Sam is a 6-year-old boy who was recently sprung from the Montgomery County Animal Shelter where he had been living for over 3 months. He was brought in as a stray but is now being fostered with Lone Star Animal Welfare League.
Sam had not been treated very well prior to making it to the shelter. He has a scar on his neck from what we suspect was an embedded collar or chain. He's adjusting nicely to life in a home. He's experiencing lots of new things. For the first time, he has a soft bed. For the first time he has toys. (Although, he's not quite sure what to do with them.) He has regular meals, affection, warmth, safety, vet care, playmates and Christmas presents. He gets along beautifully with his foster doggie siblings as well as the cats. He's friendly to the neighbor dogs. He's even been on walks around his neighborhood.
Sam is working on four skills that will help transform him from a good dog into some lucky person's dream come true - Attention, Go To Your Place, Sit and Down.
We are certain he'll master those in no time, then we'll move on to Come When Called, Stay, and Walk Nicely.
If you are considering adding a dog to your family and think Sam might be a good fit, reach out to Lone Star Animal Welfare League for an adoption application.
