Adopt a Lab
We are grateful for your interest in adopting one of our rescues. As you will read below, all of our dogs are living in foster homes. We are not a shelter facility. Therefore, an application is the first step. Our adoption fees range from $100-$350 and that fee includes vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, and microchip registration!
Please be advised we recently established a new policy regarding placing our rescues in homes where there are children. Specifically, we will not place our dogs in homes with children under the age of 8 years old – unless approved by our review committee. This decision is made on a case-by-case basis, and therefore, all families are encouraged to submit an application.
Here is how our adoption process works:
Step 1: Request an application at lmaclonestar@gmail.com. Once completed, save and return the application back to the us via email and we will be in touch. Please be patient, we get lots of emails.
We strive to find the best fit for each of our dogs. Our dogs are living in foster homes - which allows us to learn about their personalities, previous training, and activity level. Based on your application feedback, we try to match the right dog for your lifestyle. Of course, please feel free to specify any dog that catches your attention - we do believe in love at first sight!
Step 2: We will do a "vet check" per information listed on your submitted application.
This step ensures that all of our dogs are placed in homes where routine veterinary care is a top priority. We will contact your veterinarian and verify that all of your pets (including deceased) are current on annual vet visits, vaccinations (including rabies), are tested for heart worms each year, and are taking heart worm/flea prevention on a monthly basis. If your "vet check" meets our requirements, we will be on to the next step.
Step 3: We will arrange a “meet and greet” with the dog you are interested in adopting.
This will give you an opportunity to visit with the dog and determine if you still want to proceed with the adoption process. If so, we are on to the final step.
Step 4: We will contact you to schedule a home visit.
The home visit gives us another chance to meet. We would like the opportunity to get to know you better and talk in greater detail about adopting one of our dogs. We want to ensure that your home is ready for one of our beloved rescues.
Finally, if all of the above steps are completed and satisfy LSAWL’s requirements, you will be approved to adopt!
We look forward to receiving your application and getting the adoption process started.
